The Repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell
Don't ask don't tell was repealed by President Obama on December 22, 2010. The change in the law didn't take effect until September 20th of this year. Before the law went into effect the Pentagon laid out a plan at the beginning of the year that involved training for members of the armed forces to create a clean transition once the law went into effect.

This is how one member of the Armed Forces took the news.

Everyone loves a little College Humor when it come to these subjects.

-Presidential Campaigns 2012-
One of the many issues in the upcoming campaign will be that of same sex marriages. While none of the leads for the Republican vote like Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich or Herman Cain post anything on there websites about equal rights they have all come out to say they oppose same sex marriages and that, that ideal should be held between a man and women.
President Obama on the other hand doesn't openly back the idea of same sex marriage saying that it should be something the individual states decide. Obama has taken action in his time in office that suggests he does fell equal rights is something to fit for. Either with the signing of the repeal of don't ask don't tell in December or  the Matthew Sheperd Act signed October 28th 2009.

-Latest State to allow Same Sex Marriage-
The newest state that will now allow same sex marriages is that of New York which becomes the sixth state behind Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, Vermont and New Hampshire as well as the District of Columbia. New York State is also now the largest state to ratify same sex marriage. This is what President Obama had to say after it went into effect july 24th 2011. Following the first video of President Obama is a clip showing reaction in New York State.
